Healing Justice was a weekly podcast centering conversations at the intersection of collective healing and social change. In late 2019, we kicked off a collaborative series called Generation Transformation - a five-part series bringing audiences on a journey, mostly narrated by young people, about what it is to organize intergenerationally.

OBJECTIVE
The Healing Justice Podcast was in the midst of many transitions, one of which included a desire to increase engagement and downloads from youth and young adult organizers who were not as familiar with the practice of healing justice. So, we developed the Generation Transformation series in partnership with the NextGen Fund to lift up a few of the voices of power and brilliance of young leaders and organizations that were playing a key role in building transformative movements for change.

THEME
The campaign embraced a storytelling approach, embracing the struggles and challenges of intergenerational struggles and challenges within organizing. We workd to highlight the role of young people and hear them name ways their work can be supported.

FOCUS
We designed this campaign to:

  • Spark personal storytelling through the hashtag #GenerationTransformation.

  • Leverage user-generated content (UGC) to amplify organic reach.

  • Collaborate with guest podcasters from the episode to cross-promote the campaign on their platforms.

STRATEGY

  • Creative Content: A series of short podcast visualizer video clips from each episode were shared across Instagram and Facebook. Each clip highlighted a pivotal moment from the guest stories.

  • Interactive Engagement: Followers were invited to share their experiences and advice on intergenerational organizing through posts or comments, tagging the podcast and using the campaign hashtag.

  • Exclusive Incentive: Participants had a chance to be featured in a follow-up episode or win podcast swag, incentivizing participation.

This campaign brought the podcast’s values—authenticity, community, and creativity—to life, creating a dynamic bridge between the episode’s content and audience interaction.

RESULTS

  • 1,000 hashtag mentions (#GenerationTransformation)

  • 20% increase in podcast downloads within the first week

  • 100 user-generated posts submitted

  • 15% growth in Instagram followers
